CARF ACCREDITATION

At Innovative Services, we take our work seriously and are accountable for our responsibilities and actions. For Community-Based Residential Facilities (CBRFs) and Adult Family Homes (AFHs), this is easy to measure as the state licenses require ISI to maintain a certain level of care and service. This standard is measured bi-annually through program surveys (visits). With the growing diversity in services offered, Innovative Services decided to pursue a CARF certification for its programs not licensed through the state.

CARF International is an independent, non-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served.

Becoming CARF accredited was an extensive process that included submitting a lengthy application complete with program descriptions and a list of other items. Once these materials were received, several CARF surveyors from around the country performed a comprehensive site visit. This visit consisted of touring service locations and interviewing people served in those locations as well as direct care staff, all levels of management, support staff and even funding sources.

Once the site visit was completed, the surveyors provided ISI with some recommendations for improvement as well as provided an accreditation recommendation to the CARF organization.

In its first attempt to become CARF certified, Innovative Services was honored with a three-year accreditation decision, which represents the highest level of accreditation that can be obtained by an organization and shows ISI's intense dedication to the standards of CARF.
